Former Department of Justice Attorney and Crisis Response Leader

Myriah represents clients in a wide range of government investigations and enforcement actions concerning data breaches, occupational health and safety accidents, environmental incidents and anti-corruption matters. Myriah frequently interfaces with state and federal agencies to respond to information requests and subpoenas, respond to warrants and notices of violation, defend against debarment actions and negotiate administrative settlements and consent decrees.  

Prior to joining Beckage in 2018, she was senior attorney with a large regional law firm and a Trial Attorney with the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). Myriah has conducted numerous internal investigations and compliance audits of client operations, conducting reviews of corporate compliance programs and developing risk management protocols, to identify and prevent violations of privacy, environmental and occupational health and safety laws. She has been a leader in developing and managing crisis response teams, from preparing for a crisis to response and mitigation, and interacting with governmental authorities, the press, and litigating related matters.

Recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star - Litigation, Myriah also represents clients in a variety of civil matters in state and federal court.

Prior to joining Beckage, Myriah co-founded and launched successful small businesses, providing a unique perspective to the practical advice she gives clients on corporate formation, project finance and investment structures, brand protection, trademark strategies, social media policies, employee relations and sustainable business growth.

Myriah is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional, United States (CIPP/US) as certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Select Experience

  • Led internal investigation of quasi-municipal body’s compliance with environmental laws in response to legal inquiries, and worked with Board of Directors and C-suite executives to develop internal compliance programs.
  • Successfully represented government contractor in defense of debarment proceeding before federal agency; oversaw independent monitor and negotiated resolution of contractor suspension.
  • Coordinate response to perceived terroristic threat at client business, including interfacing with Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and counseling client on related employee grievances. 
  • Defense of environmental class action and toxic tort suits brought against client arising from allegations of uncontained landfill contamination.
  • At Department of Justice, led enforcement of multiple multi-million dollar CERCLA cleanup actions; air permitting violations at pharmaceutical facilities; and wetland and clean water violations by national developers.
